World Cultures (WC)
1. Go to the following website http://www.cba.uni.edu/buscomm/InternationalBusComm/world/asia/index.html

2. You are to go to the Asian section, pick a country (doesn't matter which one) and read on the social graces of that country. They are divided up into various sections. List 10. Next go to either the South American or European section, find a country and do the same as with the Asian country. Make sure you list 10. Then I want to take one of those countries that you picked and then compare it to American social graces.

3. For example Column #1 Russia Column #2 France Column #3 Russia vs. the U.S.

4. Make some notes for yourself because you may have to report to class for discussion on Tuesday.

Cultural Tapestry (CT)

1. I would like for you to read on line articles on Affirmative Action. You can do a standard google search. I would like for you to list both the positive and negatives of affirmative action in your own words. ( Please list a minimum of 5). I would also like your opinion on the subject as well.

2. I want to also watch t.v. this weekend and I want you to write down or count the number of sexist images that you see on t.v. and describe them. Don't email this to me but have it ready to discuss on Tuesday.

(WC) Do you think that America is a imperialistic country in the age of terrorism or do you think that the beliefs of America is what is keeping the world safe. Explain your answer.

(CT) If you could date someone outside of your race or ethnic group, which group would it be and why? Do you feel that the media creates stereotypes or is it a mere reflection of what is in society? Are you a walking stereotype?

Welcome to Mr. Bradford's Class

Good morning or afternoon class, I hope this year will be an exciting and worthwhile class for you and I. The purpose of this blog is to give me a chance for immediate feedback on your progress in class as well as for class assignments. I will divide the blog up between World Cultures (WC) , Cultural Tapestry (CT) and American Studies (AS). You will be asked a question, comment or suggestion pertaining to what has been discussed for the week. It will be posted on a Thursday/Friday and you will need to respond by Monday.
